Visit the Type 1 Diabetes TrialNet event to learn about diabetes and help researchers refine what genetic markers predispose certain people to the disease. TrialNet is a network of diabetes researchers created by the National Institutes of Health in an effort to fight type 1 diabetes.
Meet the following criteria and get a free blood test that can identify an increased risk for type 1 diabetes up to 10 years before symptoms appear:
- Age 45 years and younger with a parent, brother, sister or child with type 1 diabetes
- Age 20 years and younger with a niece, nephew, aunt, uncle, grandparent, half-brother, half-sister or cousin with type 1 diabetes
No registration is required and walk-ins are welcome.
The event will also feature a Diabetes Fair with health information, healthy snacks and more.
Date: Friday, June 9 and Saturday, June 10
Time: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. - noon on Saturday
